Enter your electricity bill and we'll simulate all 8,760 hours of the year — solar output, battery charging and grid use — to estimate what a system would cost and save you.
Total 22,405 kWh a year — copy these off your 12 most recent bills.
That works out to 22,405 kWh a year. Texas average is about 14,000.
DIY: about $1,100/kW for panels and $300/kWh for batteries, plus permits.
Financing changes when you pay, not how much energy you use — the hourly model behind these numbers is unchanged.
Net benefit over 20 years ($). Rows are panel size in kW, columns are battery size in kWh. ★ is the best.

How to read this. Estimates come from the same hourly model published at IEEE PVSC 54, using a Houston-area solar profile and a Texas household usage shape scaled to your bill. They are a planning estimate, not a quote — your roof, shading, utility plan and installer all change the result. Prices are 2026 Texas market averages before incentives. The 30 percent federal credit for a system you buy yourself ended on December 31, 2025. Texas still exempts the added home value from property tax, several utilities still offer rebates, and a lease or PPA can still pass a federal credit through your installer.
